Although bibliographic records enter our system in many ways — through acquisitions, uploading records from vendor systems, and via Z39.50, most libraries have to create new MARC records for some material by choosing a MARC template from a single, long list of shared templates.
We would like this process to be redesigned so a single list of MARC templates is still maintained, but libraries can assign specific MARC templates to individual users or workstations. When users choose the option to add a new record, they see a list and choose from a list of their assigned templates. New templates can eaasily be assigned or removed from a user or workstation settings as situations change.
The MARC templates should display both MARC tags and labels.
