NOBLE has always included the NoveList Select content in the staff catalog, making it easy for library staff helping patrons find books of interest based on specific books or series they’ve enjoyed, or working on booklists, selecting titles for displays based on a genre or theme.
There is development in progress to add a Summary or Staff View tab to the new catalog with a view of the full record, including contents, authors and subjects as links, number of copies and hold, but not the NoveList Select content.
This could be perhaps be added as a separate development item to the new page, or as a separate Added Content tab. (NOBLE uses NoveList Select but other systems use other vendors for added content.) There is concern about the added content being pulled in from another system causing slowness, and having this as a separate tab should help — the NoveList content would not be pulled in every time a record is viewed, but only when it’s of interest. Settings could also be used so having the added content display in the staff client could be an option. We would want to turn this on for NOBLE but other systems might not want this on.
